Halloweentown, The Addams Family, and Caroline are some flicks we all go back to year after year during the spooky season. But why not extend this Halloween movies for kids list with some modern classics for a more extensive binge-watch marathon?
Following, you’ll find gothic, animated, and fantastical Halloween movies for teens and kids that offer family-friendly fun!
1. K-pop Demon Hunters (2025)
This global Netflix hit has it all: a bestselling trio we all love to see, amazing K-pop vocals, a rivalry that’s bold and fun, and the thing that should instantly make the Netflix movie a must for Halloween: loads and loads of monsters! Here’s a snippet of the story that I believe every kid, teen, or tween has already seen since its release in June 2025:

The world-famous girl K-pop band HUNTR/X are bestselling pop stars by day and demon hunters by night, trying to power the energy of ‘Hanmoon’. They are close to destroying the demons from earth when Saja Boys, a rival boy K-pop group, come and start to steal their fans and weaken Hanmoon!
2. Freakier Friday (2025)
Body switch is a big theme for Halloween, and that’s why this Lindsey Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis movie got such rave reviews after the hit 2003 first installment. The Disney movie released in July 2025 may not have the typical horror or mystery elements we are used to seeing in Halloween for teens with the whole concept of the body switching between a mother and daughter being quite fascinating!

3. Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)
This list consists of the latest Halloween movies for kids and teens, and that’s why I have stated the sequel of the classic version in the title and not the cult classic Hocus Pocus movie, which was first released in 1999.

The fans loved the first film so much that Disney+ produced the sequel in 2022, reuniting the witchy trio of Bidget Miller, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy again. The story starts with new-age witches accidentally casting a spell and bringing the “Salem Sisters” back to earth on Halloween night.
(Having seen both, I don’t think you need to watch the first one in order to enjoy the latest installment!)
4. Zombies 4: The Dawn of The Vampires (2025)
The Z-O-M-B-I-E-S franchise by Disney goes hand in hand with the Descendants (2016-present) in being the most popular among Gen-Z, sort of what High School Musical was for Millennials now. The movies contain zombies, of course, but so many other popular Halloween characters as well, including werewolves and aliens.

In its latest installment, the cast and crew get a shake-up, and we taste the rivalry between Zombies and Daywalkers. While I recommend going through the rest of the series, you don’t need to see them specifically for this fourth part.
5. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024)
If you have seen the popular Gothic show, Wednesday, then you’ll also like this Jenna Ortega and Tim Burton collaboration that’s a sequel to the popular 90s classic, Beetlejuice. Here’s a quick snippet of the story that picks up more than 30 years after the first film ended:
The story of Lydia (Winona Ryder) and Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) continues as she goes to the Netherworld to save her teenage daughter, Astrid (Ortega). Please remember, though, the movie has a PG-13 rating.
6. Ghostbusters (2022-2024)
Many current spooky movies are heavily based on Halloween movies for kids of the 90s and early 2000s. Take the example of one of the most popular Halloween costumes and music of all time, Ghostbusters. In this century’s installments, the story continues. Now, the characters’ lives continue with the new age Ghostbusters, Paul Rudd, McKenna Grace, and others, through the two movies, Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

7. Haunted Mansion (2023)
Based on the classic 2003 movie of the same name starring Eddie Murphy, which is based on the classic Disney theme park ride, this may be one of the most underrated Halloween movies for kids, especially as it didn’t go out to become a classic like its predecessor.

The story of the early 2000s movie is different in the reboot, where a mother and her 12-year-old son move into a mansion, but of course, it’s haunted, and thus, they take the help of some fun crew to get the spirits out.
Muppets Haunted Mansion (2021)
Already watched the Eddie Murphy classic and the reboot? Why not continue the classic Disney story with the addition of Muppets? Halloween movies for teens like these can also serve a nostalgic element, as the Muppets are more or less a part of childhood in many households.
8. A Babysitter’s Guide To Monster Hunting (2020)
Netflix has some great Halloween movies for kids produced in the 2020s, and this one has to be one of them. Based on the book by Joe Ballarini, we see Kelly, our protagonist, teaming up with monster-hunting babysitters when the child she is watching on Halloween night gets kidnapped by the villain.

9. The Witches (2020)
There can be many Roald Dahl Halloween movies for kids based on books, but The Witches is the one we have seen A-listers star in. The classic story of a boy who is turned into a mouse by a witch and takes revenge on the witch has been read by millions over the years. The 2020 movie shows just that, and it stars one of Hollywood’s darlings, Anne Hathaway, as the head witch!
10. The Curse of Bridge Hollow (2022)
If you like small-town Halloween movies for tweens, such as Goosebumps or Hocus Pocus, then this Marlon Wayans movie on Netflix is a must-watch! The plot follows a family’s move from Brooklyn to Bridge Hollow, where the kid accidentally frees a demon who brings life to all of the town’s Halloween decorations!

11. Under Wraps 1 and 2 (2022-2023)
Make a double feature night with these two modern Halloween movies by Disney, where three kids revive a mummy on Halloween, and then in the second one, they are celebrating a Halloween wedding but have to get away from a vengeful mummy named Sobek.

12. Hubie Halloween (2020)
Adam Sandler’s Netflix comedy is set in the heart of Salem on the day of Halloween, where a killer is on the loose. Need I say more? This description perfectly encapsulates why it would be a family-friendly Halloween movie for a fun day.
13. We have a Ghost (2023)
This is not your typical haunted mansion run by spirits; let’s get out of here, story. In this 2023 Netflix flick, when a family discovers a ghost in their new home, they instead become viral shooting it!

14. Something Special: Sing: Thriller (2022)
For animated Halloween movies for teens and kids, even characters from the hit franchise, Sing, can be a fun option. We meet again with all the cast and crew of The Moon theatre when they put up a play on Michael Jackson’s Thriller, and it’s so hilarious, I wish it were not a short but another full-length feature!

15. Bad Guys: Haunted Heist (2023)
In this 20-minute short, we return to see the theatrics of the bad guys as they break into a mansion to steal an amulet in another hilarious adventure that once again makes a fine addition to the franchise.
