We have loads of classic Halloween movies we binge-watch every year when it’s the spooky season: Casper, The Addams Family, Halloweentown, and more. But how about adding some trending TV shows for some family-friendly time as well? Following, you’ll find both popular and underrated Halloween shows for kids according to age!
1. Wednesday (2022-Present)
Tim Burton’s creation of the character Wednesday (played by Jenna Ortega) from The Addams Family has become among the most popular Netflix Halloween shows ever. The story of Wednesday, after she is expelled from a regular school and sent to the Nevermore Academy for kids with supernatural abilities, is intriguing enough. Add in the killings that have been going around, and you’re in for a treat!

The second season in 2025; Part 1 in August and Part 2 in September, perfect timing for fans looking for something gothic.
2. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place (2024-Present)
Disney has been aiming high to produce Halloween shows and movies recently In 2024, they gave Wizards of Waverly Place a reboot where we return to the same world with Justin (David Henrie) and Alex (Selena Gomez as a special guest) from the classic series, where the former plays the Wizard Teacher to his kids as they fight off magical creatures, correct spells gone wrong, and more!

3. The Worst Witch (2017–2020)
Think of The Worst Witch as Winx Club in live action, but with a slight change of Fairies into Witches! Here, our lead, Mildred (played by The Last of Us fame Bella Ramsey), goes into Miss Cackle’s Academy for Witches, where she gets trained in witchcraft, though, as titled, she struggles a lot and we get a lot of magical mishaps in between!

4. Secrets of Sulphur Springs (2021–2023)
This is a nice Disney+ original take on the classic ‘There’s something wrong in our new house’ for kids. Here, the leads, Griffin and Harper, time-travel as they find the portal to bring peace to their family and small-town community of Sulphur Springs.

5. Pretty Freakin Scary (2023)
When middle schooler Frankie accidentally dies, she is sent back to Earth. But with the condition that her two guardians, Angel and Scary, will come along. This unique premise series may have only had one season but I still think it deserves a watch, specifically around the spooky season!

6. Just Add Magic (2016-2020)
Based on the 2012 children’s book of the same name by Cindy Callaghan, Just Add Magic showcases three best friends—Kelly, Darbie, and Hannah as they try unique recipes from Kelly’s grandmother’s cookbook which can truly add magic into their dishes following the recipes!

Even though the initial installment was finished in 2019, Amazon Studios did give us a spin-off with different characters and a different place, Just Add Magic: Mystery City, in 2020. The 4th part may not create the same cozy vibe, transferring to a darker theme, but if children want something gothic, then it’ll be worth it to include in your Halloween shows for kids and teens list this year!
7. Ghostwriter (2019-2022)
While Halloweentown shows for kids are dominated by Disney and Netflix, a few years ago, Apple TV+ also presented something binge-worthy for the scary season: the revival of the popular 90s series, The Ghostwriter.

The story starts with a ghost who’s haunting a bookstore and releasing fictional characters in real life from classic books. As the kids start to solve the mystery, we start to learn more and more!
8. The Last Kids On Earth (2019-2021)
An animated comedy inspired by the popular Max Brallier books, The Last Kids on Earth is exactly what the title conveys. There are four kids on Earth as they try to make the best time they can while fighting off in an apocalyptic world.

9. A Series of Unfortunate Events (2017-2019)
Even though the list of Halloween kids’ series has been set in mind to include the shows produced after the 2020s, I have to include space for the modern classic that became both viewers’ and critics’ favorite, A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Like other Netflix Halloween shows, it’s also based on a bestselling book series. It’s produced by and stars Neil Patrick Harris, who takes on the role of Count Olaf, guardian to three orphans, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny, as he plans to steal their inheritance through different schemes.
10. Goosebumps (2023-2025)
L. Stine’s book series Goosebumps has been a bestseller for decades. The 2015 movie and its 2018 reboot are among the most popular Halloween movies for kids, but even these two Disney+ seasons are worth watching at least once.

In the first season, we get the case of a camera that’s bringing havoc into the town, inspired by the classic Stine book, “Say Cheese and Die.” Then, in the second season led by David Schwimmer, we see another mystery lurking in Brooklyn with a whole new set of characters.
11. Tierra Incognita (2022)
An Argentinian Disney+ series I wish could’ve gone longer, Tierra Incognita is perfect for middle schoolers. You have kids getting clues, solving mysteries, and whatnot in just the perfect not too sweet or too scary vibe.

11. Scaredy Cats (2021)
This 9-episode Netflix Halloween series will be adored by kids who like the Witchy theme and, well, cats. Even though it doesn’t have many episodes, the sweet old premise of bad witches coming to the good ones to steal a magical amulet is just perfect for the season.

12. The last one: Hotel Transylvania: The Series (2017-2020)
The Hotel Transylvania movie series has been a global hit, but even the animated series is worth a watch for people who want to see the adventures of fun characters at Hotel Transylvania!
