Messi Drops Hints of Moving to Saudi Arabia

Lionel Messi is all set to leave Paris Saint-Germain Football Club (PSG) this summer, and it has links with the former club Barcelona, along with Major League Soccer (MLS) side Inter Miami.
The reason behind the link to Messi’s move to Saudi Arabia in recent months has been after the player’s long-term rival Christian Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr.

The speculations are because the player recently shared a sponsored image from Saudi Arabia expressing his love of the country’s landscape.

A post shared by Leo Messi (@leomessi)

In one Instagram post that reads, “Who thought Saudi has so much green? I love to explore its unexpected wonders whenever I can. #visitsaudi. He also shared the same caption in Spanish “Quién pensaba que Saudi tenía tanto verde? Me encanta explorar sus maravillas inesperadas siempre que puedo. #visitsaudi“. He shared a photo in this post and talked about how green Saudi Arabia is.

The Instagram post came a day later. Barcelona coach Xavi on Satuday, confirmed that the Catalan club has been in talks with La Liga about bringing back Messi, who spent his entire career before his shock departure in 2021 at Camp Nou.

Messi will turn 36 this summer in 2023 but is still sought after and will be in contention for the eighth Ballon d’Or later in 2023 after leading Argentina to World Cup glory in Qatar last December in 2022.

Messi also has links with a move to Saudi Arabia in the recent months since his long-time rival and world-famous football player Christian Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr. The latest mix with the nations in the Middle East is a point of worry for Inter Miami and Barcelona fans. The reason is that both teams are highly interested in signing the player for PSG as soon as the high contract with the French club expires.

It is highly unlikely for Messi to reach an agreement to extend his contract at PSGm, which will run out by the end of the season.

While the president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, maintains an interest in funding a deal to take the captain of Argentina back to the Spotify Camp Nou, the leaders of LaLiga continue to battle against financial problems, and this move by Messi will make them more unlikely to succeed.
