Popular Tv Spin-Offs That Never Happened

It’s great when we find a show so comforting and enjoyable that it provides warmth and entertainment. It’s equally pleasant when we get the news that the characters from a favorite show will get their series as reboots, but sometimes an idea ends as an idea.

5 Spin-offs That Never Happened

Here are some popular tv spin-offs that never happened:

  1. Alex and Harper’s spin-off from Wizards Of Waverly Place

Jennifer Stone played the role of Harper on the hit Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place channel series. The series ran from 2007 to 2012. Recently in her podcast, along with her show’s costar David DeLuise, Wizards of Waverly Pod discusses how they were about to make the series’ spin-off and why they had to cancel it. They addressed the spin-off to be on Harper and Alex’s characters, played by Jennifer and Selena Gomez.

However, the show producers informed Jennifer about the difficulty of producing the show as Selena did not have time for it. The main reason behind it was that both the actresses were trying for something different.

It was one of the reasons behind the cancellation of the show’s spin-off. When asked by Jennifer or Selena on different occasions, both actresses said they would love to return to play the characters.

Fans of the OG Disney from early 2000 would have been stoked to see Lizzie and her friends and family live all grown up. They were delighted with the show’s spin-off announcement at 2019’s D23 Expo.

Hilary shared the plotline and why the reason behind the show‘s cancellation, getting under the list of spin-offs that never happened, leaving the fans devasted.

Ultimately, we did get to see Hillary take part as the main lead. You can see her in the reboot of another popular series, How I Met Your Mother, as the main lead, Sophie, in the Hulu Original How I Met Your Father.

  1. The Farm- Spin-off from The Office

Rainn Wilson was leading in this quirky show where the story would focus on Dwight Schrute. The show was also about his bed and breakfast beets farm that he ran with his family. The office produced an episode “The Farm” that was part of the popular NBC series season 9, the final season.

The episode’s main focus was on the funeral of Dwight Schrute’s aunt, where all the Schrute relatives gathered. Sadly, the episode didn’t get as high ratings as expected. This may have become a part of the failed tv spin-offs that never came to fruition but I think fans and actors of the office would all love a reboot of the show if it ever happens!

  1. Sue Sue in the City from The Middle

ABC/Michael Ansell

The Middle was an ABS show that was not as famous as other big shows on the list. However it managed to get decent ratings as it ran for nine seasons! Sue was Eden Sher’s character, who was the middle child in The Middle. Her character was supposed to start a fresh life after finishing college in Chicago. The other characters Brad, and Brock Ciarlelli were also series’ regular.

The actress and other characters did shoot one episode after The Middle aired its final season in 2018. However, Sue Sue in the City never did get a chance to get aired on ABC’s platform.

  1. A Black Slayer from Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Buffy created a phenomenon and is still one of the favorite shows for the generation as they love to say female vampire slayer and her group fighting for the good. In 2018, we got the news that a spin-off with the main slayer portrayed by a black female lead was going into the works, but later the producers put it on hold.

The show would be diverse, and the producers would show the themes and plots relevant to today’s issues—sadly, these and other Buffy tv spin-offs never happened.

Conclusion

These were some failed tv spin-offs or reboots from different channels and productions that didn’t get a chance to be made or aired for one reason or another. Yes, it’s sad, but sometimes things don’t work. At least we can enjoy and re-watch our favorite episodes and seasons of the show whenever we can! But we still got some amazing reboots like Raven’s Home, iCarly, Game of Thrones, and upcoming tv spin-offs like Zoey 102, Game of Thrones spin-off, and more!
