Pumpkinheads is one of those books that makes you crave being in a fall season. It has everything you want to experience through the Autumn or Halloween season.

This is the author Rainbow Rowell’s first graphic novel. The author is a worldwide bestseller for penning books like Fangirl, Attachments, Carry On, and many other fan favorites. The illustrations are by Faith Erin Hicks, who is a popular and popular graphic artist. She brings the story by Rowell in the best artwork.

The Story

Josiah and Deja are two high school seniors doing their last shifts at a Pumpkin patch. Next year, they will be going to different colleges. Deja helps Josiah tell his feelings to a girl he has a crush on working at Succotash Hut. So, the duo decides to accomplish this task by looking around the pumpkin patch to make their last time unforgettable!

Points that make this a staple for Fall

Graphics

The illustrations are so pretty! The color pallet is one of the most beautiful that I’ve seen. It tells you the autumn feel with the right shades of browns, reds, oranges, and more! Even the background is paid much attention, which I appreciate!

The humor

Even though the story is only about a day, Many scenes are filled with smart humor. Not even YA, but adults would get like and laugh at it!

The story

I think we need more books, especially graphic novels that are centered towards the Fall season. The creators indeed present us with a one-evening story but very cleverly add all the things people love about Fall. These include Corn Maize, Caramel Apples, Pies, Pumpkinheads, and many more pretty aesthetics.

Last Word

Pumpkinheads has been my go-to graphic novel for every fall since I first read it. It is cozy and cute and hits you with just enough warmth.
