Candy Cane Lane Plot
From the movie’s trailer, we see that Chris (Eddie Murphy) has been fired from his job right around the start of the holidays. To make up for it, he tries to win the annual Christmas house decorating competition. While trying to get the best tree, he signs a deal with a mischievous elf, Pepper (Jillian Bell), and now only has a couple of days to complete a deal made with Pepper before she makes Chris a figurine in her Christmas doll house!

Story
The main plot of Chris (Eddie Murphy) trying to win a competition for the best-decorated house, for which he will go to great lengths, is unique! I, for one, have never seen such a thing and think it’s the best for a holiday-centric film! There are a lot of things that go on throughout the movie.
Many are questioning whether they are working in their favor or not for the film in their Candy Cane Lane reviews. But, to me, the combination of fantasy of winning against a mischievous elf, trying to earn the first position in a Christmas competition, and trying not to turn into a figurine yourself works!
Sets
Right from the Eddie Murphy’s movie trailer, I knew the production hadn’t left a stone unturned to make the movie the best they could! From the elaborative sets to the beautiful Christmas houses, the fantasy movie makes you want to jump inside the fictional holiday town! It is done by a well-curated team of more than 25 people, like Joshua Bramer (property master), Betty Krul (set designer), and many more amazing people in the art department!
Animations
What impresses me is how fine the animation of the movie is! The animation of the figurines in the Candy Cane Lane movie is especially done well! The characters of Nick Offerman, Chris Redd, Robin Thede, and other carolers are exceptional! They are not fake, just cute in their porcelain selves!
Actors
The movie is cheesy, but that’s what you want, and even some expect that from a Christmas movie. So, everyone does their part nicely in the movie. The film is led by Eddie Murphy, an acting veteran now. So, of course, we can expect nothing bad from him.
The main antagonist is Jillian Bell, who plays Pepper’s role. I’ve seen her in a lot of comedies, playing side roles. This is the first time I saw her in a full-fledged cheesy Christmas villain role, and I liked it! The other actors are Tracee Ellis Ross, Genneya Walton, Thaddeus J. Mixon, and Madison Thomas, who play parts of Eddie’s family. They all do their parts satisfactorily.
The only thing that I want to point out is that the movie gets a little longer towards the end. It could’ve been edited for around 15 minutes.

•It is the first Christmas family comedy by Eddie Murphy in his decades-long career! He has wanted to do a holiday movie for some time now, and when the script for Candy Cane Lane came, he thought it had all the elements and became a part of it! He not only acted but produced the movie, too!
• The Candy Cane Lane movie was inspired by the experiences of the movie’s writer, Kelly Younger! When he was a child, he remembers going to the festive block in El Segundo, California (outside Los Angeles) and how competitive every family was when they decorated their house!

Trying his best for decorations, he finds the Christmas shop from where the fantasy element starts, and there is no progress in his job aspect whatsoever. So, it’s a relief to see that after the credits roll in, we finally see what the future holds for Chris.
